Lutz takes JSTS season opener at Park Jefferson Sp

Jefferson, South Dakota (April 9, 2010) - The Jackson Speedway Touring Series opened their 2010 season this past Friday night at Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson SD. Winning the nights 25 lap feature event was Eric Lutz, Sioux Falls SD.

Two different drivers led in the 25-lap A feature event. At the start of the race it was Gregg Bakker, Sioux Falls SD, getting the early lead from his inside row starting spot. Eric Lutz would get the second spot with Robby Wolfgang getting the third position. The leaders raced in this order for the first four laps when the races’ first caution came out when Steve Ballenger, Harrisburg SD, came to a stop coming out of turn two. On the restart Bakker held off Lutz and Wolfgang. Bakker would now begin to build up a comfortable led on the field but as the race went, Lutz would slowly begin to close in on Bakker. On laps thirteen, Lutz would make his move into the lead coming out of turn four and narrowly grabbing the lead from Bakker at the line. Lutz would be the only driver to cross the line on the next lap as the caution flag was displayed when Jordan Martens, Brandon SD, slowed coming out of turn four. On the restart, Eric Lutz was able to hold off Bakker and Wolfgang and lead the remaining laps and go on to take the feature win. Gregg Bakker took second followed by Robby Wolfgang, Wade Nygaard, Fargo ND, and Mitch Runge, Sioux Falls SD. Heat race winners were Steve Ballenger, Gregg Bakker, and Robby Wolfgang.
