I-80 ASCS Midwest Season Opener

It wasn't the weekend we hoped for after the strong opening to the season. Friday started with another draw that didn't go in our favor. We started toward the rear of our heat and struggled to go anywhere with the competition lined up with us. Our finishing points delegated us to 9th starting spot in the B. We were moving up nicely, into 7th with a handful of laps to go and pressuring the 5th and 6th positions. 6th didn't like the pressure and attempted a racing move to split between us and the 71. The racers ran out of room and we were the loser in the deal, spinning down the backstretch. No real damage to the car, but our night was over.

Saturday the drawing duties were handed over to Todd and we started outside front row. We need to have him come everywhere with us. Our heat was stacked again, but that didn't stop us from pulling out to a nice lead and cruising on to the heat win...until 82 stopped on the back and bunched the field up for a dash. We lost out and missed the line in the corner allowing 24a to get by and then 18, finishing 3rd. Still made the A so started 14th. The first lap didn't go so well as the nose wing, bumper, and part of the top wing were damaged in a crash with 2 other cars. We repaired and restarted last...18th. It didn't shake us though...watching the video, I think we passed 5 cars in that first lap alone. Good racing throughout with the 22 and then the 7k. Came throught the field to finish 7th.

An easy weekend coming up. Possibly hit I-90 for a practice for us, or maybe the practice night at Husets, or might just take the weekend off. Whatever we go with, it will be close to home.
