Tankersley Bullied by Rough Track at Short Track Nationals

Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Nov. 3, 2015) – Rough conditions plagued Channin Tankersley last Thursday during the only race of the 28th annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals at I-30 Speedway.

Rain hampered the area prior to the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event, which only attempted one of the four races because of the weather.

The action on Thursday began with Tankersley piloting the Bruce Griffith owned sprint car from fourth to second place during a heat race.

“We started off really good and had a fast car,” he said. “However, the track was progressively getting worse. We went out there for the qualifier and were pretty moderate to start. I went into turn one a couple of laps into the race and bounced in a hole. I accidentally got into somebody. It wrecked them and knocked the Jacobs Ladder off my car and flattened the right rear tire on my car.”

The team hustled to fix the damage in the work area, but the qualifier restarted before Tankersley could return to the track. He was credited with an 11th-place finish, which relegated him to a B Main.

“The track was so rough it broke the steering gear mount off the frame a couple of laps into the B Main,” he said.

Tankersley was unable to finish the consolation race, which wrapped up his season.

He ended the year with four feature wins to give him five consecutive seasons with multiple triumphs.
