Tankersley and Old School Racing Produce Ninth Straight Podium During ASCS Gulf South Action

Inside Line Promotions – BEAUMONT, Texas (April 9, 2019) – Channin Tankersley recorded his ninth consecutive podium finish during ASCS Gulf South Region competition last Saturday when Golden Triangle Raceway Park hosted the season opener.

The Old School Racing driver, who captured his third championship in the last five years last season, started the 2019 campaign with an efficient night at the bullring despite wet weather.

Tankersley advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race, which earned enough points to make the feature redraw. He drew the No. 6 to line up on the outside of the third row for the main event.

“Unfortunately, we got caught up in an early incident and had rear end damage,” he said. “Luckily for us we got a red flag pretty quickly and were able to fix some of the stuff to limp to the finish.”

Tankersley’s runner-up result marked his ninth straight top-three result during ASCS Gulf South Region races dating back to June 2018. He’ll aim to continue that streak this Saturday at Texana Raceway in Edna, Texas.

“I’ve got a bunch of seconds at that place, but I’ve never won there,” he said. “It’s like a Martinsville with long straightaways and tight corners. I was told they reworked the track so I don’t know how it will be. We’ll just have to play it by ear.”

Tankersley earned a second-place run during his most recent visit to Texana Raceway in July 2013.
