Tankersley Leads Old School Racing to Sprint Car Bandits Win at 82 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – PETTY, Texas (Oct. 1, 2019) – Channin Tankersley was victorious in his return to the cockpit of the Old School Racing sprint car last Saturday at 82 Speedway, which hosted a Sprint Car Bandits event.

Tankersley swept the night, winning a heat race from the pole position before maneuvering from fifth to the victory during the A Main.

“It was a really nice track,” he said. “It’s kind of like a mid-sized track, like a big quarter mile or small 3/8 mile. It was my kind of track. It was rough and elbows up, and we had a pretty good car.

“There were some decent cars there. We got going right out of the box and never dropped off. We had a good, consistent race from Lap 1 to Lap 25. I got to third on the first lap or so. Then I got to second a lap later. The leader was checked out on us. He got into some heavy traffic and I was able to capitalize on that.”

Tankersley lapped up to second place. His victory came during his first start since July 20 – also a win.

The team will venture to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., this Friday and Saturday for the 32nd annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires with the ASCS Mid-South Region.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “We’ve had a strong car there in the past, but have missed the luck part of the event. Hopefully this year we can continue to run strong and have some luck on our side.”
