Terrell looks for another strong finish at Civil War returns to Petaluma

[b SEBASTOPOL, CA 8-7-10] - Last season when Bradley Terrell was faced with parking his family owned #43 sprint car for much of the season and strapped into Jim VanLare's machine for the year it became somewhat of a Cinderella story for the Sebastopol driver as he battled for the 2009 Petaluma Speedway track championship and finished second overall thanks to the gratitude of local car owner.

This season, the story is shaping up to be much the same. However, in this case the sequel appears to be more powerful than the first tale. After damaging a motor several weeks ago, Terrell though his season was over until local car owner Scotty Dupont stepped in and offered the seat of his #3 sprint car for the remainder of the year.

From the first night Terrell stepped into the offered ride the duo has fared well in both the Petaluma Speedway All Pro Series as well as the visiting Civil War Sprint Car Series. This Friday night they will test their teamwork once again against the best of the west as the Civil War Sprint Car Series invades Terrell's home track of Petaluma Speedway for the final time this season.

"I'm looking forward to it," said Terrell, who leads the Petaluma Speedway All Pro point standings following a hard earned victory two weeks ago. "It's always a lot of fun when the Civil War comes to our home track. Hopefully we can do as well as the last time, if not better."

Friday night marks the second time in less than a month that the Civil War stars compete on the fast 3/8 mile Petaluma Speedway that sits in the Sonoma-Marin County Fairgrounds. In the most recent series event at the track he calls home, Terrell had a very strong night aboard Dupont's machine.

"We ran really well in the last Civil War here," he said. "I'm very thankful for the opportunity to drive Scott's car. If he hadn't stepped in when he did to help me out I would have given up a point lead at Petaluma and likely missed several races. It worked out pretty well."

In the last Civil War event here, Terrell qualified 17th in the field with a 13:317 second lap. He started second in his 10-lapo heat races and drove his way to victory in the preliminary event. In the feature race, Terrell started 14th in the field and skillfully worked his way up to the 6th finishing position.

Currently, Terrell leads the Petaluma Speedway All Pro point standings. He sits 10th overall in the Civil War Series standings with limited appearances. So far in 2010 Terrell has three top ten finishes in the competitive Civil War campaign. Following Friday's Civil War event here, Terrell will return to Petaluma Speedway in one week to resume his quest for the 2010 track championship.
