BUCKLEY SWEEPS “FALL CLASSIC” AT THE BULLRING

Scott Hunter looks to put a cap on his 2014 USAC Eastern HPD Midget championship this weekend when the series presents its final events at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, N.C. Races are scheduled Friday and Saturday nights and Hunter, of Concord, N.C., holds a 117-point edge over Calvin Carroll in the latest series standings.

USAC HPD Western point leader Shawn Buckley of Simi Valley, Calif. swept last weekend’s “Fall Classic” races at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Bullring. He led all 30 laps of Friday’s feature and then repeated the feat Saturday.

Toni Briedinger finished second on Friday ahead of fast qualifier Christine Breckenridge, Jeff Kelley and Michael Fanelli. Saturday, Buckley was trailed by Kelley, Breckenridge, Briedinger and Cody Jessop.

The USAC Western HPD Midget series concludes November 22 at the “Bullring.”
