Hudson Hornet Returns!
After setting the Pro Dirt world on fire in his first official season, Damian Hudson (Hudson Racing Team) had a quieter 2023/24 but is looking to ramp it back up this time around!
Eight top tens and a best finish of sixth punctuated his best ever season in 2022/23 where he came home fifth overall, but last year was quieter with a few less shows and a twentieth overall.
“Last season we played with shocks and springs trying to find the right package for me, but we couldn't quite get it right” says Hudson. “We will be continuing on with some small adjustments now though as we found a combination towards the end of last season that felt better.”
Hudson also shares that his bogey track at this point is the Perth Motorplex, unfortunate considering that the bulk of the seasons racing is done at that venue!
“We always struggle to be comfortable on the track at the ‘Plex” laments Damo. “Because of that, we are really going to be concentrating on the setup, and hope to get down to do more test days through the season.”
Coming into his fourth official season of racing, Hudson has spent the off season upgrading his team in almost every way possible.
“In the off season we have completely stripped the car down and are now starting to reassemble it all. We also got a new transporter considering how much travelling we are doing, so we have stripped that out, fitted new suspension and have purchased a 3500 GMC for towing it. There’s still a lot happening before we can turn some laps but we will get there!”
The team are aiming to do the full season at this stage, with Damo setting some big, but realistic goals.
“I would really like to be in the top ten at the end of the season” he says. “That being said, the competition is so hot these days I need things to fall my way for once!”
The Pro Dirt Series officially kicks off in 53 days at the Ellenbrook Speedway!
