Rob Lindsey Scores WSS Opener At Madras

Madras, Oregon- The first race is in the books for the brand new Wingless Sprint Series. The tour would visit the central Oregonian ¼-mile of Madras Speedway to open up the 2016 campaign. A total of eleven entries would make the journey representing the states of Oregon and Washington.
Salem’s Tim Alberding would set the pace early in his Alberding Racing #52 XXX. Alberding would be out in front for the first half of the race and looked to go into to WSS history as the first ever feature winner. But he would get passed by the Black Bear Diner of Madras #07 entry of Ryan Arnold from Bend.
Arnold would have his hands full late in the race. Sherwood’s Rob Lindsey, who started seventh, would pressure Arnold before a late race yellow would bunch the field up one last time. The Maxline Custom Cases/Summerfield Golf & Country Club/Competition Suspensions Inc./Speedmart Inc. #23 XXX, of Lindsey, would utilize the high side and get around Arnold for the lead. Lindsey managed to stay in position for the rest of the distance to win the first Wingless Sprint Series feature.
Ryan Arnold would place second followed by Tim Alberding in third. The Weedman Ranches #27 Maxim, of Guy Weedman from Moro, was fourth and crossing the line in fifth would be Tommy Moreno in his Moreno Brothers Trucking #29T entry.
The program called for no qualifications and implemented a pill draw format. Rob Lindsey and the Lynch Pro-Formance Products #7R machine of Gary Lynch were the heat race winners. Lindsey would also be victorious in the Trophy Dash.
