Ryan Smith finds first 410 feature win in Jersey Rush at New Egypt Speedway!
Akron, Ohio-New Egypt has always been an exciting track for sprint car racing, Tuesday August 19th Ryan Smith set the place on fire when he rolled into victory lane for the first time as a 410 sprint car driver! Smith, comments on his victory:
“This has been two and a half years of paying my dues. My team was on their game today and gave me the equipment that was needed against this tough field. We did it!”
At the end of the 2013 season, Ryan Smith had already become a Pa. Posse fan favorite in the 410 sprint car ranks, yet he had never been to victory lane. With two seasons in the Kreitz #69 car, Smith had been a Bridesmaid, but never a Bride in the division. Since pulling down the belts in the #94 Rob Warko/S&S Speedways entry last fall Smith has shined on from the first start. Including the World of Outlaws, World Finals last November. Smith and the new crew would hold on to “Quick Time” at Charlotte most of the qualifying session to be bumped by Outlaw regulars, Donnie Schatz and Paul McMahan . Smith, like all racers has suffered a few setbacks here and there chalking them up to a new team learning curve. Each time moving forward and making progress.
During this season Smith has been able run well with not only the Pa Posse but the World of Outlaws, All-Star Circuit of Champions, Thunder on the Hill race Series and the 1st Annual Kasey Kahne Dirt Classic. Smith is currently 7th in points at Williams Grove Speedway, where he finished 2013 in 12th and earned the “Most Improved Driver Award”
Smith adds, “We still have a lot of racing left in this season and now we focus on the next race.”
