Inside Line Promotions – MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (May 11, 2015) – Ryan Smith has been eagerly awaiting the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series return to Central Pennsylvania.
The moment will arrive this week as the premier sprint car series will face Smith and the PA Posse on Wednesday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown for the Gettysburg Clash before races on Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway during the Morgan Cup.
“You want to defend your home turf whenever the Outlaws come to the area,” he said. “Last year we did that and it gives me a lot more confidence going into the races this week.”
Smith registered his first career World of Outlaws victory at the end of last season when the series was last in Central Pennsylvania.
“That was a huge win that spring boarded us into the offseason,” he said. “I think we’ve kept up the momentum throughout the early part of this season and we enter this week’s races looking for another victory.”
Smith finished 18th during the World of Outlaws first event at Lincoln Speedway last season. However, he powered to results of 13th and 12th, respectively, during the Morgan Cup at Williams Grove Speedway.
“We’ve improved each year when the Outlaws come to town,” he said. “It went from being happy to make the main event to aiming for top 10s to now we want to win.”
Smith competed at Williams Grove Speedway last Friday during a tune-up event. He qualified eighth quickest, finished second in his heat race and placed 14th in the main event.
