POWRi Lonestar 600's Non Wing

Davidson & Hjorth Winners for the 6th Annual Nolan Wren Memorial

Trailers started to fill the pits at Gator Motorplex for the 6th Annual Nolan Wren Memorial early. With Hot Laps at 3pm most would know the pits would fill up fast with the 3 open wheel series' racing on this early day. The Lonestar 600's presented by K&K Earthworks, ASCS Gulf South and the SUS 305's were on tap for the nights events along with the Jr. Sprint's Factory Stocks and Limited Modified's. The Lonestar drivers would get checked in to compete for the $1200 up for grabs. After the drivers meeting was over the totals were in. An astounding 57 Winged 600's and 10 Restrictor's were on hand for the nights events. Drivers start to chatter as they just realized that it was going to be a real challenge to make the A-Main. The lineups were posted. 8 heats would take to the track. Heat race winners would be Heat 1 Brandon Anderson, Heat 2 Chase Brewer, Heat 3 Mike Walling, Heat 4 Tanner Dunlap, Heat 5 Blake Moeller, Heat 6 Dustin Davidson, Heat 7 Chase Randall, Heat 8 Raleigh Shepherd. The passing points would be totaled and the Qualifying races would be set. 3 C - Main top 4 from each C - Main would move onto the 2 B - Mains Top 5 from each B - Mains would transfer to the A-Main. The Top 8 in passing points would be redrawing for there starting spots. Well kinda. We would involve the grandstand during intermission. Travis Senter would pick high card setting him on the top starting spot for the A- Main. Dustin Davidson would be starting just to the right of Travis.

The restrictor's would be out on the track first. With Maverick Elkins and Brady Hilton heat winners the would put them on the front row. Maverick would lead the field of 10 to the line and take the green. Maverick would jump out early and take the lead. Jarret Hjorth would find his grove and charge from 4th to 2nd. Hjorth would show his nose a few times to Elkins. The caution would fly to a parked car on the back straight. Elkins would give it his all to keep Hjorth behind him. Hjorth would pass Elkins for the lead only to loose it back to Elkins after he jumps the right rear of a slower lap car. Elkins would take Hjorth's mistake and take the lead back. With only a hand full of laps left Jarret would somehow track Maverick back down and pass him to take the lead back. Jarret would keep his lead this time and Maverick would come across the checkers in 2nd.

The Top 24 Winged 600's would file onto the track next after a long day of qualifying. They would get the call over the raceciever to go 4 wide to salute the Gator Motorplex crowd. As well as smile for the camera as the Racing Magazine CC Racer was on hand to cover the race. They would disperse and line up to take the green. Travis Senter would lead the field around and take the green. Travis would stand on it and beat Dustin Davidson to the first turn. We would go green for 10 laps before the caution lights would come on. Chase Randall would make contact with the infield tire sending him for a spin. He would suffer a flat left front and a trip to the tail of the field. Travis would still be your leader. The cars would get in line nose to tail and take the green flag. Michael McNeil would pull off due to a mechanical problem. A few laps later Chase Randall would also pull off to end his night. With 2 laps left Travis Senter would be caught up in lap traffic and collide with a slowing Hunter Gengo. Hunter was trying to get to the infield. During this collision Dustin Davidson would be right there to take advantage of the collision and take the lead away from Travis. Travis would only loose one spot, gather his composure and try to chase Dustin back down. Well Travis ran out of laps and Dustin Davidson would claim his victory and pull his 2D into victory lane. During post race tech Travis Senter would be disqualified for a wing infraction. Also Holden Anderson and Isaiah Garcia would as well be DQ'ed for an off track incident.

Saturday's Dragon Fly Aviation Hard Charger award goes to John McAfee for passing the most cars in the main.

If you were unable to attend or were there and want to see all the action from the nights events jump over and visit our friends at www.raceontexas.com and get a DVD. You wont be disappointed. Well worth the purchase.

As for the Lonestar 600's presented by K&K Earthworks. We take a little break and have 2 weeks off to rest and fix the cars up. Next race will be at Gulf Coast Speedway. This will be a 2 day show May 28th and 29th. On tap will be the Winged 600's and Restrictor's.

Thank you again who all came out to make the Nolan Wren Memorial a crazy success.
