Overton records top-10 finish in Freedom 60 at Muskingum
Brandon Overton opened the month of July with a pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) events in Ohio, as the tour invaded the Buckeye State for a Fourth of July weekend doubleheader.
With 26 entries on hand at Atomic Speedway for Friday’s Independence 50, Overton secured his spot in the main event with a second-place finish in his heat race. Unfortunately, his night came to an early end on lap 10 when a broken oil line forced him to retire while running in third.
The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Muskingum County Speedway with the Freedom 60, where Overton qualified sixth-fastest in his group before placing fourth in his heat. Taking aim at the $25,000 top prize, he charged forward seven positions in the 60-lap finale to record a eighth-place finish and rebound from Friday’s misfortune.
Brandon is currently seventh in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
