In addition to hosting the Northwest Wingless Tour, Sunset Speedway Park would host five other classes. Those divisions were the Womens, Dwarf Cars, Street Stocks, Northwest Extreme Modifieds, and Micro Sprints. Of the five other classifications on tap four would be first time winners.

The Womens division were on hand for their biggest race of the 2014 campaign, the Iron Woman event. Marcie Treat of Cornelius would seize the lead on the start and put her Barebones Racing/DVC Machine/Dave's Automotive/Transaction Transmissions #02 Camaro in front. She would pace the field the rest of the distance to win her first career victory and the inaugural Iron Woman event.

Gabrielle Hollinger of Banks, in her All-In Property Investments/Duncan Automotive/Avenue Title Company/Jeremy Martin Racing #60 Firebird, was second followed by Christine Strode from Yamhill in the Terry Houck owned Luttrell's Trucking/Trask Mountain Outpost/Sweere’s Trucking/Happy Hut #53 Nova in third. Cornelius’ Amanda Clarke would complete the finishing order in fourth driving for car owners Marcie Treat and Rod Lowe, Barebones Racing/DVC Machine/Dave's Automotive/Transaction Transmissions #02X Camaro.

Sandy’s Roger Hubbard would put on a dominating performance in the Street Stock main event. Hubbard, driving the Hubbard Painting and Sealcoating/Dailey Trucking #18 Camaro, would lead every lap and pulled away from the field once the initial green flag came out. It would mark Hubbard’s first career victory at Sunset Speedway Park.

John Ireland out of Banks would end his evening in second, driving the Ireland & Ireland at Law/Privateer Racing/Applebee Aviation/Transaction Transmissions #88 Camaro, while in third was the Wilburn Racing/Eastside Paving #36 Camaro of Portland native Jody Tanner. Forest Grove’s Tony Catalano finished fourth driving his Meyers Auto Body/DVC Machine #19 Monte Carlo followed by the Sweere's Auto Body/Sweere's Trucking/Tire Factory of McMinnville #37 Camaro of Freya Smith from McMinnville.

The Dwarf Car main event would see another thriller. Chris McCleary of St. Helens, in the PSP Powdercoating/FinishLine Technology/Shake and Bake Racing #3, led a good portion of the early goings until he would lose the lead on lap twelve. The Wright Shop/Hicks Family Racing/B-Rad Motorsports #78 Philpott of Creswell’s Kevin Hicks would get to the front and blazed the trail until he was passed on lap fifteen. Portland hot shoe Ryan Martinez was the driver to make the winning move as he would stay in the top position the rest of the way to win and put his Auto Truck Wholesale/Van Raden Industries/St. John’s Tire Factory #9 M&M in victory lane for the second time at Sunset.

Richard Petty of St. Helens would come across the line in second in the PSP Powdercoating/FinishLine Technology/Shake and Bake Racing #8 M&M while Kevin Hicks was third. The Blueline Transportation #777 Hot Rod of Dennis Liebig from St. Helens was fourth and Brad Hicks of Creswell, driving his The Wright Shop/Hicks Family Racing/B-Rad Motorsports #77 B-Rad, would place fifth.

In the Northwest Extreme Modifieds Brandon Potter would pace the field for the first ten laps. The St. Helens driver in his Hope House/Ry Ki Roofing and Sheetmetal/ Kaptain's Kraft Custom T-Shirts #11 Pro, of Potter, would lose the top spot on lap eleven. The driver to make the pass would be Randy O’Connor from Aloha in his Prime-X Contracting #38 entry. O’Connor would stay out in front to win his first career main event at SSP.

Brandon Potter would be the runner-up while behind him in third was Oscar Luckman of Hillsboro in the Privateer Racing #96 Dirt Works by Jerry Hoffman. The Ruth Racing #11X machine of Scott Ruth was fourth while completing the finishing order would be Michael Melton out of Battle Ground, Washington in his Melton Racing #04 Dirt Works.

Last but not least was the Micro Sprints. Jeff Brodwell from Springfield would take care of business. He would lead the entire distance to put his Dorman Construction/X-Factor Race Cars #4B PMP in the winner’s circle for the first time at the “Banks Bullring”.

Jake Tupper of St. Helens was second in the Freight West Global/Fritts and Company/All Hazards Rescue #29T PMP while third would go to Nick Thornhill out of Lake Tapps, Washington in his P.G.H. Excavating #12T entry. Portland’s Rich Speer was fourth in the Mad Max #90 Hyper.

Sunset Speedway Park will be in action on Saturday August 2nd for the annual Doug Walters Classic. Classes in action include the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and 4-Bee’s.

Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 3:30, and racing starts at 6:00. Tickets for the event are Adults $12.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a Family Pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
