Flying By Summer Time!
This summer has flown by and the Melby Racing team has had a very busy and successful season thus far. Cole picked up a very emotional win on June 4th in a race he dedicated to his grandfather, who passed away earlier that week. Since then, he has picked up 2 more wins and accumulated a total of 12 top 5s to date. We would like to say a special thank you to Impact Sign and Lighting Co. They have been a big supporter of Cole this year and will continue to be an essential element to our continued success. Cole drew a number 5 pill to put him on the outside front row of the heat race. When the green flag dropped, he quickly jumped into the lead and went on to a convincing heat race win. This earned him a 3rd place starting spot for the feature.After starting 3rd, Cole fell back a few positions on the opening lap, but quickly worked his way back into 3rd place. The car was very fast, but was a little tight on the cushion. Cole was battling for 2nd spot and closing in on the leader, when he jumped the cushion in turns 3 and 4 on lap 14. This packed the right front full of mud and caused a violent vibration and made the car very tough to drive. He managed to hang onto the car for the last half of the race and come home with a 3rd place finish. Although we would've liked to have a shot at the win, the car was fast all night and we are very happy to start the year with a top 5.4/27/11After mother nature forced the cancellation of last week's season opener, we hope to get the year going this weekend at Sweet Springs Raceway. The whole team has been working hard this winter in preparation for this year and we can't wait to get back on the track and put the Melby Racing Stallard up front. Our season begins on April 16th at Sweet Springs Raceway and consists of 44 nights of racing at 7 different tracks thoughout the Midwest. The entire Melby Racing team is excited about this year and we look forward to April!
