Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (May 20, 2016) – Craig Dollansky dominated the Spirit Lake Silver & Gold NSL 410 Sprint Cars portion of the Folkens Brothers Trucking Spring Nationals on Friday at Jackson Motorplex, where he claimed the $10,000 top prize and the National Sprint League points lead following a strong performance during the season-opening event at the recently renovated facility.

Casey Friedrichsen led all 20 laps to capture the Last-Deck® 360 Sprint Cars feature and Dusty Ballenger led the final seven laps of the Liquid Nitro IMCA 305 Sprint Cars main event on an action-packed night at the half-mile oval.

“This track is beautiful,” Dollansky said. “Tod Quiring and everyone who has done this hard work to build this facility, it’s an honor to be here. That was a fun race. We’re a smaller budget team. To come in and perform like that is a testament to the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.”

Dollansky was a man on a mission as he opening the marquee event by setting quick time during qualifying. He then advanced from sixth to third place in a heat race and finished second in the dash to earn enough combined points to start the 25-lap main event on the pole.

Dollansky quickly powered into the lead and he maintained the top spot despite two cautions – the first for Aaron Reutzel, who blew a tire while running fifth with 10 laps remaining, and the second for a crash involving Brian Brown and Tim Kaeding, who were competing for 10th place with four laps remaining.

Defending series champion Danny Lasoski took advantage of the late-race restart to pass Ian Madsen for the runner-up position, but Lasoski was unable to close to Dollansky’s bumper before the checkered flag was waved.

“Everybody was equaling out and everybody was using their tires up,” Lasoski said. “Hats off to what (Quiring has) done here. It’s a phenomenal facility and we sure enjoyed racing here.”

Madsen held off his brother, Kerry Madsen, to finish on the podium. Bill Balog rounded out the top five.

Bargain Barn Tire Center sponsored the heat races and provided a minimum of $300 to win and at least $50 for everyone who started a heat. Austin McCarl, Kaeding and Tasker Phillips each won a heat race.

Ian Madsen claimed the Weikert’s Livestock Dash presented by Midwest Truck Insurance and Transportation Insurance Services. All 10 dash drivers were presented a $100 bonus.

The National Sprint League will make its season debut at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday. Hot laps are scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m. with qualifying at 7:15 p.m.

Tickets for the event at Knoxville Raceway are $15 for adults, $10 for ages 13 to 19 and free for ages 12 and younger. Pit passes are $25.

The Cushion will provide live Pay-Per-View video from the race at http://www.TheCushion.com.

Last-Deck® 360 Sprint Cars

Friedrichsen led from flag to flag to score the Last-Deck® 360 Sprint Cars, which featured the GoMuddy.com NSL 360 Tri-State Region, victory during the season opener at Jackson Motorplex.

“They have a very nice facility here, a good track,” he said. “There’s not a complaint from us. When you start out front you have to make it count right away. This is our first race of the year. Coming out with a ‘W’ is a big success for us.”

Skylar Prochaska maneuvered from seventh to the second-place finish with Lee Grosz placing third. Kaley Gharst ended fourth and Chris Martin was fifth.

Liquid Nitro IMCA 305 Sprint Cars

Ballenger took advantage of a restart on Lap 9 to pounce on the leader, capitalize with a slide job and pull away for the Liquid Nitro IMCA 305 Sprint Cars main event triumph.

Ballenger, who started the 15-lap feature sixth, advanced into fourth place on Lap 2. He moved up a spot on the ensuing lap before taking over the runner-up spot on Lap 5. Ballenger maintained that position until the restart provided the opportunity.

“The yellow definitely saved me on that deal,” he said. “The 305s are so equal you have to drive them so straight and try not to lose any speed. That was a fun race.”

Jesse Lindberg gave Ballenger a battle in the closing laps as the duo were side by side in turn two multiple times. Lindberg finished second with Michael Stien, who led the first eight laps, garnering a third-place result.

Nate Eakin and Brandon Allen rounded out the top five, respectively.
