Fifth-place finish in Hawkeye 100 at Boone
Friday night found Ricky Weiss in action at Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) for the two-day Hawkeye 100. Drawing 24 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries for a pair of preliminary features, Ricky posted the 19th fastest time overall in qualifying, which positioned him 19th on the starting grid for the $3,000-to-win preliminary feature. Earning the 20th-starting position for the second preliminary feature, Ricky passed 10 cars to finish 10th.
On Saturday with qualifying times and heat results setting the grid for the $30,000-to-win Hawkeye 100, Weiss scored a third-place finish in his heat. With the field utilizing a three-wide start, Ricky gained four spots in the 100-lapper to register a fifth-place finish. He trailed Bobby Pierce, Shannon Babb, Brandon Sheppard, and Billy Moyer to the checkers.
Ricky remains in fifth in the latest World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series point standings.
