It was the third and final round of racing at the Adams County Speedway for the Malvern Bank Series Saturday with a big $3,000 payday on the line.
Saturday was the 2019 edition of the Ray Houck Memorial at Malvern Bank’s home track, the Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa. It was the final appearance of 2019 for the series and round 16 of the 2019 season. A field of 26 late models made the trip to take on the giant half-mile at the Adams County Fairgrounds.

Tad Pospisil started off the 25-lap main event jumping out to the lead from the outside of the front row. The 2017 series champion put a good amount of distance ahead of the pack as Justin Zeitner and Jason O’Brien began what would be a race-long duel for second.

Pospisil had a commanding lead built up before the first of four cautions came out after a car came to a stop in turn four with 16 laps to go.
On the restart, Zeitner and O’Brien continued their battle for second while fellow Iowa native Jesse Sobbing ran fourth. Pospisil continued to lead going into the second and third yellows of the race.

The final caution came out with only four laps remaining. One last time, Pospisil hit the restart just right and drove away from the battle for second. The Norfolk, Nebraska driver went on to lead all 25-laps and took home the win in the Ray Houck Memorial. It was Pospisil’s second win at Adams County Speedway, his third of 2019, and his 17th career Malvern Bank Series feature victory.
Jason O’Brien won the battle between him and Zeitner for second while Zeitner took third. Bill Leighton Jr. and point leader Kyle Berck rounded out the top five.
Iowa native Charlie McKenna had an excellent performance. After missing his heat race and finishing fourth in the B-feature, McKenna started 22nd and came all the way up to finish in sixth.

The Malvern Bank Super Late Model Series takes a week off to regroup and then continues action on Saturday, August 17th when the tour heads south to the high-banked I-35 Speedway in Winston, Missouri. The tour will also have stops at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Nebraska on the 24th and then at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa on the 31st.
