McKay Wenger tops Matco Tool Night at FCR; ninth-place finish in '24 Hell Tour debut
The 2024 season continued for McKay Wenger and the Curless Motorsports team on Friday with the Matco Tool Night at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.).
Lined up third for the feature via a runner-up heat showing, Wenger powered ahead of pole-starting Kyle Hammer on the opening lap and never looked back, winning by more than a four-second margin when the checkers flew. He captured his second win of the season and the $1,500 winner’s payday ahead of Hammer, Taylor Scheffler, Donny Walden, and Mike Spatola.
Debuting with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals on Saturday, McKay made the short trip to Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) for the third round of the Hell Tour. Following the second-fastest qualifying lap in his 25-car group, Wenger advanced into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with a heat race victory over Hall of Famer Billy Moyer. Hanging onto a top-10 finish against a stacked field, McKay crossed the line in ninth.
