Diercks tops Modified field at Maquoketa Speedway
Spencer Diercks hopped behind the wheel of his Lindquist Ford No. 29 Modified on Friday afternoon at Maquoketa Speedway (Maquoketa, Iowa) for the Gil Short Memorial.
With a fifth-to-third run in his heat placing him on the second row for the feature, Diercks outran a charging Kelly Shryock in the 25-lap affair to record his second win of the season. He took the checkers ahead of Shryock, Jason Schueller, Brad Dierks, and Ryan Duhme.
Pulling double duty on Saturday, Spencer visited Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) as the track hosted the Yankee Dirt Track Classic. In a stout field of 49 Super Late Models for the event co-sanctioned by the Malvern Bank Series and the Hoker Trucking Series, Diercks secured his spot into the $6,045-to-win A-Main with a runner-up finish in his heat. Starting in sixth, Spencer was an early retiree from the 60-lapper after running inside the top-10 for the majority of the race.
In his Modified, Spencer started the night off with a heat race win but retired on the 10th circuit of the 25-lap feature.
