Hammer Competes in Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals

Kyle Hammer competed in the 2021 edition of the Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals over the weekend at the famed Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway. (Heath Lawson image)

Action kicked off on Thursday and Friday night with $7,000-to-win prelims each night. With 48 competitors on hand, Hammer fell just short of qualifying for the two prelim finishes with a pair of fifth-place finishes in each night's B-Main action.

For Saturday's $50,000-to-win finale, Kyle started third in a B-Main and raced to a runner-up finish, which locked him into the coveted 100-lap finale. After starting 21st on the grid he was an early retiree to a 27th-place finish.
