MARS Championship Series finale brings Hammer to Tri-City
After Mother Nature axed Friday’s opener, Kyle Hammer returned to the driver’s seat of the Brent McKinnon Racing No. 26H Late Model on Saturday at Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.) for the MARS Championship Series season finale.
With 36 cars on the grounds for the Late Model portion of the track’s annual Mod Mania, Hammer missed a transfer spot by one car in his heat with a fifth-place outing, relegating him into a B-Main. Needing to place second or better to qualify for the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Kyle was an early retiree on lap three.
