Nick Hoffman lands top-10 in USA Nationals prelim at Cedar Lake
Back with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series on Tuesday, Nick Hoffman trekked to Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) to pilot his NOS Energy Drink No. 9 Late Model for the track’s annual Hawkeye 100.
Starting the $15,000-to-win A-Main in 15th via a fifth-place run in his heat race, Nick inched forward two spots in the 50-lap affair to finish 13th.
Following the series on Thursday, Hoffman headed to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) as the 36th running of the USA Nationals weekend kicked off with prelims on Thursday and Friday leading up to Saturday’s main event. After missing a transfer spot in his heat race, Nick raced his way into the opener with an impressive sixth-to-second showing in his consolation race. With $6,000 on the line, Hoffman crossed the line in 21st.
For another round of prelims on Friday, Nick followed up the 12th-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a runner-up run in his heat. Gaining four positions in the 25-lap preliminary, Hoffman rolled to an eighth-place finish.
Locked on the ninth row for Saturday’s $50,000-to-win USA Nationals finale, Hoffman rallied to finish 18th in the 100-lapper after pitting multiple times with brake issues.
Nick is currently sixth in the latest World of Outlaw point standings.
