Hoffman finishes fifth in C.J. Rayburn Memorial, Top-10 in Saturday's Jackson 100
For a doubleheader event with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Nick Hoffman took the Tye Twarog Racing No. 9 Late Model to Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) for Friday’s C.J. Rayburn Memorial to kick off the Jackson 100 weekend.
With 45 Late Models entered, Hoffman topped his 22-car group in time trials with a blistering 13.990-second lap before dashing to an eight-lap victory. Chasing a $10,000 payday in Friday’s feature, Nick limped across the line in fifth with a flat right-rear tire after leading the opening eight circuits of the 40-lapper.
On Saturday, Nick followed up a sixth-place finish in his heat with a runner-up run in his consolation race. Starting the $30,000-to-win Jackson 100 finale in 20th, Hoffman advanced through the field 11 spots in the 100-lap affair to register a ninth-place finish.
