Jake O'Neil Follows USMTS to Hawkeye State
Jake was back on the road with the USMTS this past weekend for a trio of events during the hunt for the Casey’s Cup. Friday night, the team made their way to the I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, MN. During the heat race, Jake had troubles, ending his heat early and he was forced to take a provisional for the main event. From his 23rd starting spot, Jake raced his way up to 12th before being caught up in a crash, ending his night early.
Saturday, Jake and his team made their way to the Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, MN, where his night was much better. He started and finished second in his heat race before starting third and finishing a solid fourth in the non-stop main event.
Sunday night, the weekend concluded at the Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, IA where Jake ran fourth in his heat race before redrawing the outside of the front row for the main event. Jake was running in the top three early in the main before he and another car made contact, creating problems and forcing Jake to retire from the main event early.
