Henderson scores 10th place finish in Late Model Championship opener at Volunteer Speedway
On Friday evening Matt Henderson was one of 73 American Crate All-Star Series entries on hand at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) for the two-day Crate Late Model National Championship. Following the 11th fastest time in his qualifying group, Matt scored a runner-up finish in his heat behind Aaron Guinn, which positioned him ninth on the starting grid for the opening night feature. With $5,000 on the line, Henderson faded one spot in the 50-lap affair to register a 10th-place finish. (Michael Boggs Photography)
The following night, Henderson laid down the second fastest time in his qualifying group behind Ricky Weiss before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Starting the $15,000-to-win Crate Late Model National Championship in third, Matt suffered mechanical issues in the latter half the 100-lapper that dropped him back to 11th when the checkered flag flew.
