Matt Henderson
Podium finish at Magnolia Motor Speedway
Matt Henderson had a great weekend of racing at Magnolia Motor Speedway. He visited Victory Lane on Friday night in the Boleware Motorsports No. 18B Street Stock before piloting his Stanco Equipment Co. No. 17 Vineyard Lawn / CVR Race Car / Hendren Racing Engine Crate Late Model to a podium finish in Saturday night’s Crate Racin’ USA $10,000-to-win E-Z-GO Challenge finale.
The victory was his 16th of the year.
“I tell you what The Mag is absolutely one of the best tracks in the country. What a weekend we had there. We finished third in the CVR Race Car House Car in the $10,000 Crate Racin’ Late Model feature, and we took the Boleware Motorsports Street Stock to Victory Lane on Friday night and finished fifth on Saturday night,” Henderson said. “We had a great weekend with great people, and now this week we’ll head to Kentucky looking for two more wins.”
Matt Henderson returned to the driver’s seat of the CVR Race Cars No. 17 Late Model on Friday afternoon at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) for the opening round of the two-day Crate Racin’ USA series sanctioned contest. In a field of 58 cars, Henderson followed up the fastest time in his group with a 10-lap heat race victory.
He also competed in the Street Stock division in the Boleware Motorsports No. 18B entry. With 23 entries on hand, Matt finished fourth in his heat race to earn the 10th-starting spot for the feature. In the main event he rallied to the front of the field on lap 7 and went on to claim the victory over Shay Knight, Brandon Hill, Eddie Rickman, and Shelby Sheedy.
Starting Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win A-Main in second, Matt lost one spot in the 75-lap affair to register a third-place finish. He followed Mark Whitener and Spencer Hughes across the line with Jason Welshan and Wil Herrington rounding out the Top-5.
Meanwhile, in Saturday’s Street Stock action he finished fifth behind Lee Ray, Gary Tucker, Dewayne Estes, and Brandon Hill.
