Matt Henderson tackles Street Stock Nationals with Project-X team
On Thursday afternoon, Matt Henderson began his Street Stock Nationals weekend at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Miss.) behind the wheel of the Jackson Families-owned No. 17 Project X Race Car.
Among an incredible 123 Street Stock entries, Matt qualified 19th quickest in his group and made up a few spots in his Thursday qualifier to finish seventh.
Rolling with some momentum into Friday's heat races, Henderson was outside of a transfer spot before a last lap pass propelled him to Saturday's main event.
For Saturday's $10,000-to-win finale, Matt started the 50-lap main event from the 26th-position and made his way inside the Top-20 when the motor expired in his No. 17 machine. He was scored 27th in the final rundown.
