Brandon Lopez grabs 1st Pro Late Model win with CARS Tour at Caraway

Georgia Native Pockets $4,000 Firecracker 265 Victory

CARAWAY, N.C. (07/08/25) – Brandon Lopez kept his nose clean in an attrition-filled zMAX CARS Tour Pro Late Model race at Sophia, North Carolina’s Caraway Speedway and claimed his first win in the discipline.

The Wednesday night victory was the second in a row for Bryson Lopez Racing (BLR) in the CARS Tour, with Kaden Honeycutt having triumphed at North Wilkesboro (North Carolina) Speedway in May.

"I just can't thank them enough for sticking behind me," said Lopez. "It's been a long two years. I never really knew anything about car racing before I got into it. My step-brother convinced me to get into it. I didn't think my first win would come in the CARS Tour, but we're winners."

Lopez qualified 10th out of 16 cars at the 0.455-mile oval in his No. 6 LeeBoy Chevrolet SS from the BLR stable. He then held a spot inside the top 10 for the early stages of the 100-lap Pro Late Model portion of the Firecracker 265. By virtue of his consistency throughout the race, he marched ever forward as cars were eliminated or caught up in accidents.

He was running in the third position late in the event when his teammate Tyler Reif and Mason Walters tangled in front of him, moving Lopez into the top spot. He maintained his lead on the final restart and scored the $4,000 victory over Brody Gunter, Reif, Walters and Cody Ware.

Meanwhile, Reif qualified in the ninth position aboard his No. 47 Atlanta Paving & Concrete Construction Chevrolet SS. He also methodically climbed through the field and chased down Walters with less than 10 to go. After a physical battle with Walters, Reif went around and restarted from the rear. He quickly climbed back into contention to round out the podium.

The BLR team returns to action this weekend as the zMAX CARS Pro Late Model Tour heads to Hickory Motor Speedway for The Road to the Throwback. A win in the event guarantees a starting spot in the prestigious Throwback Classic, set for August 2.
