Austin Theiss Follows Hell Tour on Land of Lincoln Swing
Back with the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals Hell Tour on Monday, Austin Theiss stopped at Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) for the 16th stop of the tour. Coming one spot shy of a transfer spot in his heat race with a 5th place finish, Austin went on to edge his way into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with the 2nd and final transfer spot in his B-Main. Rolling off 18th for the feature, Theiss failed to improve logging an 18th place finish.
The following night brought 36 Hell Tour competitors to Fayette County Speedway (Brownstown, Illinois) for the Fourth of July special. Falling one spot shy of a transfer position in his heat race with a 5th place spot. Austin transferred into the B-Main with a 3rd-starting position. Sending the Top 2, Theiss scored a runner-up finish behind Daryn Klein locking him into the 18th-starting position for the A-Main. Dropping one spot in the 50-lapper, Austin recorded a 19th place outing.
After Mother Nature washed away the 18th round at Belle-Clair Speedway (Belleville, Illinois), Theiss headed to Macon Speedway (Macon, Illinois) on Thursday for the 37th annual Herald & Review 100. Holding his spot in his heat race, Austin scored a 4th place finish positioning him 13th on the starting grid for the feature. On Friday night Theiss wrapped up his stint in the Hell Tour for the $10,000 top prize at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Illinois). In a stout field of 40 Super Late Models, Austin held his spot in his 10-lap heat race to place 8th. Transferring into the C-Main for another shot at the feature, Theiss posted a 3rd place finish sending him into the B-Main. Needing a 2nd place finish or better to make the main event. Austin Theiss improved seven positions but came up short with a 8th place outing.
Saturday's COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) event at Boothill Speedway (Shreveport, Louisiana) was rained out by Mother Nature.
