Corey Neil Jr. records a pair of Top-10 finishes at Cotton Bowl
To kick off the 2022 season, Theiss Motorsports ventured to Cotton Bowl Speedway (Paige, Texas) on Friday afternoon with Cory Neil Jr. piloting the Saye Plumbing Contractors Inc. No. 7D Late Model for the two-day Texas Late Model Stampede. Drawing 35 Southern Touring Late Model Series entries, Neil Jr. followed up the third-fastest time in his group with the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat. With $3,000 on the line in the feature, Corey carried a steady pace throughout the 30-lap affair to finish 10th. (Rachel Plant photo)
For the $5,000-to-win finale on Saturday, Corey missed a transfer spot by one position in his heat, relegating him into the B-Main. Coming in second, Neil Jr. locked into the 15th-starting position for the main event. Wheeling his way into the Top-10, the Bridge City, Texas, native passed six cars to place ninth.
