Fisher kicks off 2023 campaign at Whynot Motorsports Park
The 2023 season kicked off for Dewitt, Arkansas’ Clay Fisher on Friday afternoon with a visit to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Miss.) piloting his Fisher Transportation No. 99 Late Model.
With 34 Late Models on the grounds for the two-day event co-sanctioned by the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS), Fisher lost a spot in his heat to finish seventh, relegating him into a B-Main. Needing to place second or better to make the opener, Clay moved forward three positions but failed to qualify with a third-place finish.
On Saturday, Clay edged his way into the $5,000-to-win finale with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat. Rolling off on the seventh row, Fisher was an early retiree from the 40-lapper on lap 24. He was scored 23rd in the final rundown.
