Mitchell Lands Top 5 Finish at Texarkana, Breaks While Running 2nd in Rockabilly 45
On Friday evening Jon Mitchell visited Texarkana 67 Speedway (Texarkana, Ark.) piloting his HealthCare Express No. 5 Late Model for the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) sanctioned contest. Following the second fastest time in his group behind Hunter Rasdon, Mitchell notched a second place finish in his heat behind Jesse Stovall. Starting the $3,000-to-win A-Main in eighth, Jon improved three spots in the 40-lapper to place fifth behind Timothy Culp, B.J. Robinson, Hunter Rasdon, and Jesse Stovall.
The following night at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Ark.) for the 10th annual Rockabilly 45, Jon topped the speed charts in time trials before cruising to an 8-lap heat race victory. Earning the pole position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Mitchell suffered a broken rear-end while running in second that forced him to retire early on the eighth lap.
