Tommy Knippenberg ended a season-long dry spell in the most dramatic fashion possible to win the 25-lap main event.
Two-time defending Mid-American champion Tommy Knippenberg ended a season-long dry spell in the most dramatic fashion possible to win the 25-lap main event.
Knippenberg went from third to first in the final five laps, passing John Ventrello in the final turn to claim the victory.
"We made it. I couldn't believe it," Knippenberg said. "I knew I had to be patient. The car wasn't perfect, but I just drove it hard with all I had left. Ventrello opened the door. He's my buddy, but I had to take it."
Ventrello settled for second ahead of Kevin Gentile, Kenny Benson, Geoff VeZain and Chuck Yuris.
