High Hopes, bad endings for the 2024 Season Opener...
2024 Season for Farness Racing would kick off on May 11th @ Sunset Speedway Park in Banks, OR. Eddie would unload the #21 Street stock and would be bad fast from the start of the night. In Hot Laps, Eddie would go fastest.. in Qualifying, a few too many mistakes would cost Eddie some spots and would qualifying 4th. In the heat race, Eddie would start 4th, and would have a great battle with the entire top 5 group, and would get 5th at the line by not even a nose. In the trophy dash, Eddie found the line a little too late and came up 1 spot short of the win.
The 30 lap feature would see Eddie roll off P3. From the drop of the green, the top 3 cars would drive away from the field. On a lap 7 restart, Eddie would jump into the 2nd spot, and 4 laps later after a great battle, Eddie would take the lead and would begin to stretch out the lead. With about 9 laps to go, a spark plug wire would come off, dropping the RPMs of the motor, but with the lead Eddie had built, he would hang on until Lap 26 of 30 when contact would be made with a lap car, and would end Eddie's night 4 laps short of his 1st career street stock win. Eddie would still finish 4th on the night due to other DNFs earlier in the race.
A great start to the night, learned the car is very fast and will be good! A few things to fix up and then we will be back in action Memorial Day weekend at The Southern Oregon Speedway for the Iron Giant Street Stock Tour opener!
