LYERLA TAKES WAR VICTORY AT JACKSONVILLE

Jacksonville, IL (July 29, 2016)- Running second throughout most of the race, James Lyerla made a late race pass of leader Mario Clouser to pick up his first ever Boss Chassis WAR Series win at Jacksonville Speedway Friday night.

Clouser led early as he was followed closely by Lyerla over the early portion of the A-Main. Behind the lead duo, a group of drivers were trying to make charges from deep in the pack due to troubles in their qualifying heat races.

Shane Cockrum, moved quickly into the top ten from his fourteenth-starting position and Justin Grant also was moving forward. Clouser continued to lead with Lyerla remaining within striking distance as Clinton Boyles was running third and Katlynnn Leer fourth. Just behind this group, a great battle was taking place among Hud Cone, Korey Weyant, Cockrum, and Grant, as the drivers swapped positions lap after lap.

As the race hit the latter stages, Lyerla started making the bottom work. He got within a couple car lengths of the leader as Clouser moved from the top to the bottom to block the Hillsboro, IL driver. Clouser slid up a little bit in turns one and two allowing Lyerla the opportunity to move by going down the backstretch.

Lyerla would lead the last handful of laps and go on to his first career Boss Chassis WAR Series win in his Kelley Construction/Young Farms and Tree Service/R Machining/Jorns Signs/Kent and Mary Pat Zimmerman Maxim with Donovan 410 power. Clouser was a strong second in his Yokohoma Tires/Clouser Auto Repair Maxim powered by a Claxton engine. Boyles continued his strong season by running third in the Jesse Hockett Racing/Lucas Oil/Rod End Supply Maxim with RMS power. Cone was fourth in the Sears-Williams Farms #31 powered by a 305 motor. Rounding out the top five was Cockrum in the Helm Racing Eagle with Wesmar power. Grant was sixth and he was followed by Weyant. Rounding out the top ten were Leer, Levi Curry, and Pete Palazzolo.

The Boss Chassis WAR Series will be in action again on Saturday July 30 at the I-35 Speedway in Winston, MO.
