World of Outlaws Late Models Sunday at Eriez Speedway! Plus Trenton Vogt Memorial for Economods!
Hammett, PA: The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will pull into Eriez Speedway Sunday, the eleventh visit of the national sanction, for 50-laps for $10,000 to win for the New Motors Super Late Models. Along with the Outlaws, the Johnson’s Car Care and Collision Economods will race in the Trenton Vogt Memorial for $1,000 to win. Trenton was Bob and Jackie Vogt’s Grandson by their son Bob Jr, who tragically passed earlier this summer. Bob Vogt Sr was racer from the 1970’s through 2003, winning his final race on July 20, 2003. He passed from this life in December of that year. His wife, Jackie, was a scorer at several area speedways, including Eriez, for many years, up till her death in 2015.
The World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series points are currently led by Brandon Sheppard, the 2017 winner of the Eriez event. Sheppard has 52 wins as of this writing, including 15 this season. Sheppard currently enjoys a 230 point advantage over second-running Ricky Weiss with Shane Clanton third, another 26 behind. Chase Junghans, the defending champion of this event, is fourth, a mere two points behind Clanton. Darrell Lanigan, yet another past winner of this race, is fifth, another ten points behind Junghans. The Empire Landscaping and Snow Services plus NicDit are sponsoring this very special event.
The Eriez points are finished for 2019 with Max Blair the champion. Blair won every points-paying race he started. His only non-start came on July 21, when he encountered non-repairable damage during his heat race. Even with that “Did Not Start” he finished the points racing 434-points ahead of Greg Oakes, the winner the night Blair did not start. 2009 champion Chris Hackett finished third, another 134-points back with three-time champion (2007, 2010, and 2012) Mike Knight 17 behind Hackett, and two-time (1998-99) champion Matt Urban, 101 behind Knight.
The 2018 winner of the companion Economod race was Eric Reinwald. Although no points will be given for this special event, the top five are currently five-time winner Kyle Miller by 145 over two time winner Matt Alexander. Last week’s winner Kyle Layton, is 207 behind Alexander. Jason Brightman is fourth, another 248 back with Gary Olson yet another 298 back. Reinwald recorded a win this summer, as did both Eric Wilson, and Ty Rhoades.
Eriez Speedway is located on Sampson Road, just off Lake Pleasant Road in the town of Hammett, PA, 3 miles south of Interstate 90. Take Route 8 South from Interstate 90, Exit 29 and follow the signs starting in Hammett. Admission for this special event is $30.00 for Adults (18+); $15 for Kids (6-15); 5 and under always free. A family pass for two adults and up to four kids under 16 is available for $75.00. Pit admission is $40 for all ages. No pet in stands! Pets in the pit area must remain on a leash. No seats may be saved until fan gates are opened. Fan gates open at 4:30 PM and pit gates open at 3:30 PM with the first green flag shown at 6:30 PM.
