Eighth-place finish in Hell Tour opener at Brownstown Speedway

Ashton Winger made the trek to Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) on Tuesday afternoon to kick off the DIRTcar Summmer Nationals with the Hoosier Dirt Classic. On Wednesday evening at Peoria Speedway (Peoria, Ill.), Ashton missed a transfer spot by one position in his heat, sending him into the B-Main. Picking up a 10-lap consolation victory, Winger locked into the 17th-starting position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main. Wheeling his way into the Top-10, Ashton passed 10 cars to finish seventh.

For the third round on Thursday at Kankakee County Speedway (Kankakee, Ill.), Winger timed in fifth fastest in his group before placing third in his heat race. With $5,000 on the line in the feature, Ashton faded one spot in the 40-lap affair to place ninth.

The following night at Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.), Ashton was slated to start on the pole of his heat but suffered a broken transmission. Rallying from the tail of his C-Main and B-Main to pick up the wins, Winger locked into the 17th-starting position for the main event. After wheeling his way into the Top-10 in the first half of the 50-lapper, Ashton tagged the wall following a lap-37 restart that ended his night early.

On Saturday afternoon at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.), Winger followed up the fifth fastest time in his group with a runner-up finish in his heat behind Tanner English. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in fifth, Ashton faded five spots in the 50-lapper to finish 10th.

Sunday's finale at Plymouth Speedway (Plymouth, Ind.) fell victim to Mother Nature.

Ashton is currently sixth in the latest Summer Nationals point standings.
