Winger locked into pole for rescheduled WoO feature at Volusia

Behind the wheel of the Gambler Transport Motorsports No. 89 Late Model, Ashton Winger kicked off his 2022 season on Thursday afternoon at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) for the Sunshine Nationals. With rough track conditions forcing officials to postpone the 30-lap feature to Friday afternoon, Ashton was an early retiree on the ninth circuit.

Later Friday evening, Ashton laid down the second-fastest lap overall in time trials before picking up a heat race win. He earned the pole via the redraw but a late-night mist turned into rain showers and postponed the feature to Saturday.

More rain overnight and an unfavorable forecast postponed Friday’s feature to February 16th and rain out Saturday night’s event.
