Spencer Hughes records strong weekend with Southern Nationals; runner-up in Roscoe Smith Classic
Ditching their original plans, Spencer Hughes pulled the JCM Motorsports team into East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.) for the first of two rescheduled events with the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern National Series over the weekend.
Qualifying sixth-fastest overall, Hughes started the 40-lap main event from the third-row and made up two spots to finish fourth just off the podium.
At Senoia (Ga.) Raceway on Saturday evening, Spencer set quicktime in his qualifying group which earned him a front-row starting spot in the $7,544-to-win main event. Slipping to fourth early in the 40-lap feature, Hughes rallied to finish runner-up to Michael Page.
