Wahl, Schill, Pederson, and Caspers get GRP wins

UPDATE - Lightning Sprint feature finish

The Greenbush area once again escaped the rain that rolled through the area Friday night and early Saturday morning, but by mid-morning, the sun was out, and it turned into a beautiful night of racing.

Ten cars would take the green for the Modified feature, and Dustin Wahl of Greenbush, MN, would come from his inside second row starting spot to take the lead. Wahl was pushed early by Mark Esala of Thief River Falls, MN. After two early cautions, Wahl found his groove and started to pull away from the rest of the field to go on and pick up the win. Matt Schow of McIntosh, MN, would finish second and Esala third. Heat wins went to Aaron Holtan of Newfolden, MN, and Dustin Strand of East Grand Forks, MN.

The Midwest Modifieds would send 15 cars to take the green flag and outside polesitter Lance Schill of Langdon, ND, would use that to his full advantage and was out in front early. Shane Wahl of Greenbush, MN, and Hunter Hougard of Warren, MN, kept the race close, even threw three early cautions. Late in the race Hougard got along side of Schill, but it wasn't enough as Schill went on to get the win, Hougard would finish second and Alex Langland of Enderlin, ND third. Heat wins went to Kyle Langland of Enderlin, ND, and Reise Stenberg of Argusville, ND.

The Streets have had four different winners in four nights of racing, and outside polesitter Tucker Pederson of East Grand Forks, MN, wanted to change that. Doug VanMill of Bagley, MN, sat on the pole and would lead the first lap but before they got out of corner two, Pederson was in front. After two early cautions, Pederson found his line and was on his way, and picked up his second win of the year and a sweep of the night. Four cars would have to fight it out for second, VanMill, John Halvorson of Warren, MN, Ryan Johnson of Karlstad, MN, and Jeremy Gust of Strathcona, MN. Gust would get the second spot followed by VanMill. The other heat win went to Halvorson.

Austin Brekkestran of Thief River Falls, MN, would lead the first half of the 11 car Pure Stock feature, but with eight to go Dusty Caspers of Bagley, MN, made the pass for the lead out of corner four. Ryan Hagen of Thief River Falls, MN, would finish second and Steve Nordhagen of Thief River Falls, MN, third. Jace Gust of Strathcona, MN, and Brekkestran would get the heat wins.

Dexter Dvergsten of Greenbush, MN, appeared to be in control of the Lightning Sprint feature, but got tangled up in lapped traffic coming to the white flag, and Alan Truscinski of Greenbush, MN, who was running about a car length back took full advantage of the situation to take the lead and pick up his first win of the year. Dvergsten would finish second and Lawrence Veralrud of Oslo, MN, third. Heat wins went to Dvergsten and Parker Monroe of Grand Forks, ND.

Justin Besch of International Falls, MN, went on to get his second win in a row in the Outlaw Mini Mods. Jerry Larson of Grand Rapids, MN, would finish second and Tyler Jonson of International Falls, MN, third. Kelly Steele of International Falls, MN, would pick up the heat win.

Up next at the "Park" will be the NLRA Late Models. Joining the Late Models will be the Modifieds, Streets, Midwest Modifieds and Pure Stocks.

Pit gates open at 4:30 pm, grandstands at 5:30 pm. Cutoff for the draw is at 6 pm and the green flag dropping at 7 pm sharp.

Grandstand pricing is Adults 13-up $20; Children 6-12 $6; Under 6 Free
