A field of 95 drivers waited out Mother Nature and competed in the Casino Speedway Memorial Special on Sunday night.

The start of the evening was delayed by the rain shower that came through the area early Sunday evening.

In the end, Chad Becker of Aberdeen won his second straight late model feature and Kyle Dykhoff of Perham (Minn.) won his second street stock main in three tries.

Scott Harrington of Waubay (Midwest modifieds), Casey Hanson of Badger (super stocks), Chad Olsen of Hendricks, Minn. (modifieds) also recorded their first feature wins of the season.

Becker took the 25-lap late model feature that featured a field of 13 cars. Watertown drivers Scott Ward and Curt Kranz were second and third, respectively. Becker and fellow Aberdeen driver Pat Weisgram opened the evening with heat victories.

An 18-car field competed in the 25-lap modified feature. Olsen took the checkered flag over Tyler McDonald of Huron and Trevor Anderson of Watertown. Olsen, Anderson and Dale Ames of Huron won heat races.

The biggest class of the night was the 29-car Midwest modifieds, which featured four heat races and a B main along with the feature.

Harrington took the 20-lap feature, followed by Watertown drivers Mike Nichols and Tanner Zweifel. Troy Randall, another Watertown driver, topped the 13-car field in the B main. Watertown drivers swept the heat races in the division — Tony Croninger, Terry Reilly, Nichols and Zweifel.

The street stock class featured 18 cars and ended with Dykhoff crossing the finish line first in the 20-lap feature. Maria Broksieck of Goodwin was second and Dustan Davis of Waubay third. Davis and Scott Borstad of Volga were victorious in the heat races.

Huron drivers Cole Searing and Jeremy North opened the 16-car super stock class by winning heat races before Hanson took over in the 20-lap feature, beating Tyler Myers of Ethan and North to the finish line.

Honored during the night were the lives of Casino Speedway family members who passed away in the previous year including Delbert “Cookie” Koch, a longtime Casino Speedway race fan; Karen “Ma” Thomas, the wife of legendary late model driver Rich Thomas and Karen Jaquet, the wife of former Casino Speedway driver Wayne Jaquet.

The fifth annual Marilyn Olson Memorial Late Model Challenge Series Special is slated for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. It will feature the Shaw Trucking Late Model Challenge Series as well as Midwest modifieds and street stocks.
