Damage Retires Finchum Early at Texas
Chad Finchum returned to the driver's seat over the weekend with a trip to Texas Motor Speedway (Justin, Texas) for the Andy's Frozen Custard 300.
Finchum started 35th on the grid for the NASCAR Xfinity Series event aboard the Hart HVAC & Electric No. 66 MBM Motorsports / Win Supply / / Cooper & Hunter USA / Ford Mustang.
Early in the race, Finchum quickly drove into the Top 30 and was making gains with each pit spot to improve the speed and handling of the car. Unfortunately, on a lap 127 restart, Chad received front-end damage to his No. 66 after a car in front of him missed a shift. The ensuing damage sidelined Finchum in the 38th position.
"We were making gains as the race went along, and I was getting more and more comfortable in the car with each passing lap. Unfortunately, we sustained suspension damage on the restart, when a car in front of us slipped up. It was just enough damage to knock us out of the race," Finchum noted. "We didn’t get to capitalize on a good finish, but we learned a lot and will be ready for the next one when that time comes! Big thanks to all of our partners this weekend, without them it would not have been possible to do what we love."
