ALL-STAR SPORTSMAN MAIN TO TRUTE

Wisconsin Dells WI-Dave Trute continued his dominance of the Sportsman class with a Thousand Dollar Payday at the Assembly Products All Star Shootout. Bobby Giers and Cody Potter would bring a beautiful field of Sportsman to the line for their 30 lap A main. Potter would have to endure a few early cautions but eventually would break away to enjoy a comfortable lead. That lead however would be short lived as Dave Trute would use evasive driving, strategy and experience to land at the rear bumper of the Potter machine. The 57 would put up his best fight but with 21 laps remaining the 2 would complete his march to the front after starting in the 10th spot. From then on it was a battle for second on back as cars like Mike Krueger, Derrin Salo and Chris Weber would battle into the top 5 from deep in the field. But the night was destined for the King of the Sportsman Dave Trute as he cruised to a convincing victory under the DRP lights. Trute would be followed to the line by Potter, Mike Krueger, Derrin Salo and Chris Weber. Dave Trute was fastest of the 18 cars to take qualifying with a lap of 14.838. The Sportsman will return with double features this coming Saturday night for the Kalahari Resort & Convention Centers Night at Dells Raceway Park.
