Dustin Sorensen earns Rookie of the Year award with World of Outlaws

Preparations for 2025 Wild West Shootout Underway

ROCHESTER, Minn. (11/11/24) – Dustin Sorensen capped off an impressive first year on tour with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series by capturing the MD3 Rookie of the Year honors on Saturday night at The Dirt Track at Charlotte aboard his Paulson Rock Products / Altenburg Construction No. 19 Longhorn Chassis / Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Sorensen collected a $10,000 prize for winning the prestigious Rookie of the Year award.

A runner-up finish in Brownstown Speedway’s Hoosier Dirt Classic in late June highlighted Sorensen’s first year as a full-time competitor in the Super Late Model ranks.

“Yeah it was pretty good,” Sorensen said during his MD3 Rookie of the Year speech. “Looking at the rookie class going into the year I knew it was going to be pretty tough with my limited Late Model experience, but we had a really good season and that was our goal at the beginning of this deal. On top of learning a lot, I am really happy with the outcome and I am looking forward to 2025.”

Sorensen and crew traveled to The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) this past week to compete in the WoO season finale.

With Wednesday night's qualifying session for the 18th annual WoO World Finals interrupted by weather, Sorensen went right into competition on Thursday afternoon where he finished 27th and 26th respectively in the first two main events of the weekend.

For Saturday's $25,000-to-win finale, Dustin took a provisional to start the 50-lapper and made up nine positions to finish 19th.

With his results over the weekend, Sorensen locked up the 2024 Rookie of the Year title and earned $10,000 for his efforts.

The 24-year-old Rochester, Minnesota, native recorded three WoO podium outings, 16 Top-10 finishes, and rounded out his first year on tour in 10th in the overall point standings.

Full results from the season finale can be found at www.WoOLMS.com.

With the 2024 season officially behind him, Sorensen is actively preparing for the 2025 campaign, which will start in early January at Vado Speedway Park.

The 19th annual Wild West Shootout spans over eight days with every event paying $10,000 or higher. A $25,000-to-win program opens the slate on January 4 and concludes with the finale paying $25,000 to the victor on January 12.
