Dillon McCowan
Podium outing in opening round of DIRTcar Summer Nationals at Peoria Speedway
Fresh off his first-career victory with MLRA, Dillon McCowan went hunting for more on Wednesday afternoon as he joined the DIRTcar Summer Nationals at Peoria (Ill.) Speedway for the opening event of the Hell Tour.
Finishing runner-up in his heat race, McCowan started sixth in the $5,000-to-win main event and moved passed three competitors to land on the podium in third. He trailed Tyler Erb and Dennis Erb Jr. while Jason Feger and Kye Blight completed the Top-5.
Thursday's $5,000-to-win event at Kankakee (Ill.) County Speedway was cancelled due to severe weather in the area.
Headed to the St. Louis area on Friday, Dillon McCowan followed the tour to Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.) for the first $10,000-to-win event of the week. Winning his last chance showdown, McCowan started 17th in the 40-lap feature and made up five spots to finish 12th.
With a week-high 49 Late Models on hand for Saturday's show at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway, Dillon charged from sixth-to-third in his heat race to earn his spot in the $10,000-to-win main event. Leaving the track early, McCowan recorded a 21st-place finish.
Sunday's final event at Sycamore Speedway (Maple Park, Ill.) was also rained out after a late shower washed out the racetrack.
