Dillon McCowan competes in 35th Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway

Dillon McCowan kicked off the 35th-annual Prairie Dirt Classic on Wednesday afternoon at the famed Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway for the $20,000-to-win FloRacing Night in America show ahead of the two-day crown jewel weekend.

Charging from eighth-to-third in his heat race, McCowan earned a spot in the 50-lap main event and recorded a 16th-place outing. Rolling into the weekend, Dillon finished 17th in a showdown feature on Friday and did not make the cut for Saturday's $50,000-to-win finale.
