It would be Owens third win in the event, having also won the race in 2019 and 2021.

Dale McDowell would jump to the race lead at the start of the 10th Annual Scott Sexton Memorial event, with Ricky Weiss, Mack McCarter, Jimmy Owens, and Christian Hanger. McCarter would take the second position from Weiss on lap three, while McDowell would open a nice lead as he began working lapped traffic on lap nine. Cory Hedgecock would challenge Hanger for the fifth position and claim the spot on lap ten. While McDowell would continue to hold a comfortable lead, Owens would reel in Weiss for third and the duo would trade slidejobs on lap nineteen before Owens would take the position on lap twenty. The only caution of the race appeared on lap twenty-one when David Payne would spin in turn two. The restart would see McDowell maintain the race lead, while Owens would take second from McCarter, with Weiss and Hedgecock fourth and fifth. Hedgecock would begin to pressure Weiss for the fourth position and take the spot on lap twenty-seven. McDowell would start working lapped traffic on lap twenty-nine. By lap thirty-five, McDowell would be in heavy traffic, with Owens working the top side of the track and closing in on McDowell before finally taking the race lead from McDowell on lap forty. Owens would put some distance back to McDowell, while Michael Chilton would take the fifth spot from Weiss on lap forty-four. Owens would keep McDowell at bay over the remainder of the event and score the victory over McDowell, with McCarter finishing third.
