Beets and Brown Score Iron-Man Racing Series Hall of Fame 40 Victories at Lake Cumberland Speedway

BURNSIDE, KENTUCKY (July 2, 2022)– The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern and Southern Series and the Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series would be in action at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY for the track’s 3rd Annual Hall of Fame 40 on Saturday evening. Eli Beets of Knoxville, TN would lead all forty laps on the way to the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series win, while Blake Brown of Corbin, KY would inherit the lead in the late stages of the Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series and score the victory.

The win by Beets would be his fourth career Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series victory and would be his fourth win of the season and would come aboard a Capital Race Car powered by a Clements Race Engine with sponsorship from TMC Transportation and C&C Specialized Trucking.

For Brown, the win would be his tenth career Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series would take place in a Lightning Chassis powered by a Vic Hill Race Engine with sponsorship from Edgewood Homes of Williamsburg, Don Franklin Ford of London, Lawyer Muscle Racing, KY Clutch, KY Farm Bureau by Blake Brown, SH Tube, Kevin and Larry Ison Motorsports, and Elliotte Logistics.

The initial start of the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series feature would not see a lap completed as a three-car tangle involving Camaron Marlar, Rod Carter, Jr., and Kenny Cobble would take place in turn four, with Cobble done for the event. The second attempted start would see Eli Beets grab the race lead, followed by Ricky Weiss, Camaron Marlar, Ryan King, and Michael Chilton. The front five would remain in this order as the caution waved again on lap nine after Dakotah Knuckles contacted the turn three outside retaining wall. The restart would see Beets still out front, followed by Weiss and Marlar, while Chilton would take fourth from King and Steve Godsey would take fifth from King on the same lap. Josh Sneed would spin in turn one on lap ten, with several cars spinning to avoid Sneed and blocking the track to cause the yellow to become a red flag. The restart would see the front five remain the same and Beets would maintain a comfortable lead as he started lapping slower traffic on lap seventeen. King would pressure Godsey during this stretch of the race and take the fifth position from Godsey on lap eighteen. Action would be slowed again by a caution for a spin by Dustin Cordier on lap twenty-two and after a failed attempted restart, action resumed and Beets would maintain the top spot, followed by Weiss, Marlar, Chilton, and King. The final caution would appear on lap twenty-five when Roman Wesley and Josh Sneed would tangle on the frontchute, hanging the two cars together. The front five would remain the same on the restart and Beets would again catch the rear of the field on lap thirty-three, allowing Weiss to close in on Beets. However, Beets would worked lapped traffic and keep Weiss at bay to score the win, with Weiss and Marlar completing the podium finishers. Chilton and King would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Steve Godsey, Kirk Phillips, Jeremy Barr, Jeff Watson, and Austin Lay.

Peyton Harlow would grab the lead at the start of the Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series feature contest, with Blake Brown, Ben Harmon, Ben Petrey, and Jacob Hall in pursuit once action got underway following a lap two caution. Hall would work past Petrey for fourth on lap three and the first five would remain the same until the next caution waved on lap eleven for a turn four spin by Justin Maxwell. Harlow would maintain the race lead, with Brown second, while Jacob Hall would now be third, followed by Harmon and Petrey. Harlow would give up the lead after spinning the inside retaining wall prior to entering turn three, ending his night and handing the lead over to Brown. Brown would lead Hall, Harmon, Petrey, and Logan Parriman on the restart until the final caution waved on lap seventeen for a three-car tangle in turn one involving Logan Parriman, Adam Ogle, and Joe Husband, with Husband done for the night. Due to the series time limit, the event would finish under a green/white/checkered restart and Brown would lead the way to the checkered flag, followed by Hall, Harmon, Petrey, and Amos Bunch. Jerry Pyles, Andy Ogle, Sarah Patrick, Reece Ogle, and Parriman would complete the top ten finishers.
