After sweeping the preliminary events with the fastest qualifying lap and a heat race win, Overton survived the caution-plagued 67-lap feature to record the flag-to-flag victory. He claimed his 11th win of the season and a $10,067 prize ahead of Kenny Collins, Parker Martin, Cory Hedgecock, and Cla Knight.
For the $7,553-to-win A-Main on Thursday at Tri-County Racetrack (Brasstown, N.C.), Overton was running in second from the fourth-starting position in the feature when a rain shower forced officials to cut the 53-lapper short with 27 laps completed.
Friday’s Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals scheduled event at Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Ga.) fell victim to Mother Nature.
